Chiropractic adjustments
Chiropractic adjustments are specific forms of spinal manipulation to correct restricted or misaligned joints that are causing dysfunction and pain. A Chiropractor applies by hand, a specific force in a precise direction that helps to correct spinal function. When a joint has become fixated or “locked up” and is no longer moving properly, a subluxation occurs. This leads to pain, stiffness, muscle spasm and nerve irritation or impingement.
Chiropractic adjustments effectively correct subluxations, which in turn help to improve joint movement, reduce pain, reduce muscle spasm, reduce nerve irritation or impingement, and even improve organ function and overall health.
Dry needling
Dry needling is one of the most effective techniques used to release knots or “trigger points” in muscles. An acupuncture needle is inserted into the tightly knotted muscle – more specifically – into the “trigger point” in the affected muscle. When the needle stimulates the trigger point, a “twitch reflex” or “twitch response” occurs in the muscle, which quickly reduces muscle spasm and improves blood flow. The result is both restored muscle function and healing.
Ultrasound
Therapeutic ultrasound is a form of deep heat therapy created by sound waves. When applied to soft tissues and joints, the sound waves create a form of micro-massage that helps to improve tissue repair by increasing blood flow and breaking down scar tissue. Ultrasound is also effective for reducing joint related swelling, stiffness and pain, with excellent results when used for ankle, knee, shoulder, elbow and wrist sprains.
Electrotherapy
Electrotherapy is a common treatment method for most musculoskeletal conditions. There are various types of electrotherapy. Some are effective in reducing inflammation around sprained joints, some best treat muscle spasm, and some help in rehabilitation to reduce muscle atrophy (weakness and deterioration). Some forms of electrical stimulation have combination effects. Our clinic is equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art electrotherapy units.
Inversion therapy
Inversion therapy is especially effective in the treatment of low back pain and sciatica. This therapy relieves pressure on the discs and nerve roots of the lower spine, thereby increasing the space between vertebrae. This allows discs to recover lost moisture and return to their original shape, decreasing impingement and irritation on the sciatic nerve roots
Rehabilitation exercise
We are passionate about rehabilitation! Rehab exercises speed up the course of treatment, reduce the amount of treatment required and enhance the effectiveness of treatment. Whether it’s for the recovery of a sports injury, improving one’s performance in sport or for the prevention of recurring back or neck pain – Dr. AK is well trained to assess and prescribe specific, tailor-made rehabilitation exercise and conditioning programs for patients. Our clinic boasts the latest state-of-the-art rehab software that we use to design homework programs for patients.
Reduce stiffness, improve strength, enhance stability and even to reduce chronic pain – we’ll show you how to take control!
Nutrition & Supplements
Good health is much more than the absence of pain or disease. The lifestyle choices you make on a daily basis can greatly affect your long-term health. We now know that years of seemingly small unhealthy lifestyle choices can, over time, turn into very large health problems. Dr AK. will provide sound advice on nutrition and supplements that will enhance and improve your healing process and your overall health.
Ergonomics
Most people working in office environments tend to be desk-bound for prolonged periods of time every day. This sedentary work often leads to a multitude of common problems including neck pain and stiffness, lower back pain and stiffness and tension headaches. Ergonomics is the assessment of work environments and work equipment, in order to make them easier to use, more comfortable, and more efficient. Dr AK. will show you how to perfectly setup your workstation ergonomically.
